No one comes to work to get injured or become sick. Elotex is committed to providing a healthy and safe workplace for employees and contractors.
We demand and promote awareness of health, safety and environmental issues from our employees and create agreed targets to ensure continuous improvement.
We routinely record key health and safety parameters such as Lost Time Case (LTC) and set targets for their improvement. In addition, we try to positively influence behavior and attitudes to health and safety by studying the causes of accidents and reasons for high absence rates.
We regard this comprehensive approach as crucial if we want to make a positive difference to employee health and well-being. Safety and health parameters are regularly audited within our internal SHE Audit System. Our production sites are visited and audited frequently by a quality team of corporate SHE auditors who check whether SHE guidelines and company best practices are being applied.
We guarantee that each production site is visited every 3 years. Problem areas are targeted for improvement plans and corrective actions are applied and are carefully monitored by management.
It is our commitment/policy to regularly review and continuously improve the performance of our products, processes, distribution and operating systems, with regard to their impact on the health and safety of our employees and the public, and on the environment. We conduct our trade in a responsible manner in line with the demands of Responsible Care ®. Sustainability is a natural part of our daily business activities.
We not only comply with all of the relevant governmental regulations, but are also responsive to any concerns raised by the public and our employees. We assist our customers in the safe and environmentally sound use of our products and encourage our suppliers to adopt a similar policy.
We minimize the impact on humans and the environment during the production, storage, transportation, distribution, use and disposal of our products.
Position of Elotex on REACH
The European regulations on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) came into effect on June 1, 2007. The principal objective of REACH is to improve the protection of human health and the environment by means of applied testing programs and risk assessment on the majority of the chemicals produced in European Union countries. We fully support the objectives of this legislation.
The REACH legislation fits in well with our support for the Responsible Care ® initiatives of the chemical, lacquer and paints coatings industries.
Because of the work we have undertaken on our product portfolio over the last five years, we do not consider REACH as a threat but rather as an opportunity.
